WEIMER PURSELL (1906-1974) CHICAGO WORLD'S FAIR. 1933.
40 1/4x26 3/8 inches. Neely Printing Co.
Condition B+: restored losses in margins; repaired tears and restoration in margins and image.
Of all the posters Pursell designed to promote the Chicago World's Fair, this is the most dramatic, with the three towers of the Federal Building (representing the branches of government) jutting up into the text. The bright colors in Pursell's design may well have been representative of the neon lights that lit up the fairgrounds at night. In the two years it was open 39,000,000 visitors came to the fair.
