first english edition. inscribed by wescott to isadora duncan : "with my affectionate best wishes and profound admiration. Glenway W. Nice, Summer 1926." Wescott met Duncan in 1925 while both were staying at the same Parisian hotel. She was in Nice in 1927 working on her autobiography when she called Wescott, who was also in the city at the time. She was worried about the manuscript and asked him to read it but, on September 14th, Duncan was strangled when her long silk scarf got caught in the rear wheel axle of her friend's car. "Monroe [Wheeler] and I sat up with her body all night, along with her good friend Marie Destri, who told us stories of Isadora's great days." They placed towels around the bleeding body and didn't leave until her brother arrived from Paris--Roscoe, Jerry. Glenway Wescott Personally.
