Ink and graphite drawing of a horse's rear quarters on paper, 95x50 mm; 3 3/4x2 inches, signed in pencil and dated 1896, lower right. Tipped to window matte; small ink drawing of a mounted cowboy roping a steer, roughly 1 1/2x2 inches, on paper, accompanied by a letter of authenticity by appraiser Harold G. Davidson; illustration of cowboy on horseback (first printed by Gallery West, Inc., 1972), 5x5 1/2 inches, cardboard backing from previous frame with inscription from Otey Johnson gifting it to Jimmy Swinnerton stating that he owns the original (unfinished) plate; the image was eventually used on the cover of a catalogue titled "Prospectives in Western Art."
