Additional Details

A few of the notations on verso are either in Brett or Edward's hand.
From the collection of Ernst Haas, who used the prints in his 1960s television program, "The Art of Seeing."
These particular examples were sent out to patrons in the hope of securing funding for the "Project Prints," Edward's selection of approximately a thousand negatives that he deemed the best representation of his work. The project officially began in 1952 after the family received a donation of $3,000 from Richard McGraw. But the planned edition of 5 to 10 prints was never realized. Each negative was printed by Brett (with the assistance of Cole Weston and Dody Warren).
