WESTON, EDWARD<>
Three fish-gourds. Silver print, 7½x9½ inches. 1926

Additional Details

This composition shows three eels (or fish) made out of gourds and hand painted. They have been placed on a piece of silver paper, reminiscent of moving water, so their tails create an arabesque design. Weston took pleasure in this still life of "juguetes" (toys), noting: "Juguetes have continued to hold my interest. I did three fishes on a silver paper sea,--quite fine in form and technique." The image is reproduced in: "Fotografias de Weston" (1928), p. 17; Conger 26/3 (1982); Bunnell: <
