The letters: ALS, to T. Benill[?], telling him "I have no copyright of the "Hymn" and do not know that anyone has," and explaining that he has no objection to setting it to music, "but it might be well to contact the publishers . . . ." 1 1/2 pages, 8vo, written on a single folded sheet. Amesbury, 4 July 1876 ALS, to James T. Fields , "I wish to know whether you are expecting to print a new edition [of my rhymes] soon, or are disposed to assign the copyright to other hands . . . ." 1 page, 4to, with integral address leaf.
