WILKINSONS (DATES UNKNOWN) DEFENSE. Two pencil studies. Circa 1941. 16x13 inches, 40 1/2x33 cm. Conditions vary, gernerally B+: creases and minor discoloration in margins and image. Board backed with paper. J. Walter Wilkinson and his son Walter G. Wilkinson signed the posters they designed together "Wilkinsons." "Working independently and receiving no compensation other than the satisfaction of seeing their work widely reproduced, the Wilkinsons painted five Treasury [Department] poster designs, four of which were reproduced" (Victory p. 23). These two designs were never realized as posters.
