In 1983, Will Barnet collaborated with the Metropolitan Opera House to produce a color lithograph and poster for the opera Peter Grimes. The present study is likely from an unrealized project for the Opera House's production of Puccini's Tosca in the fall of 1987. The study depicts the moment in which the distraught Tosca jumps to her death from atop the parapet.
