WILLIAM A. SENNETT (DATES UNKNOWN) AIR LIKE WINE / WESTON SUPER MARE. Circa 1930. 39 3/4x24 3/4 inches, 101x63 cm. Condition B+: restoration along vertical and horizontal folds; creases in image. One of only four posters the artist is known to have designed, the other three also featuring British coastal destinations (two for Torquay, The English Riviera and one for South Devon). Here, the artist eschews the kind of detail present in his other posters and instead presents the viewer with a Tom Purvis-like cut-out image. In addition to the archetypal Art Deco appearance of the design, Sennett also adds a touch of humor in the form of a seagull actually pouring wine-like air into the mouth of a bather.
