Additional Details

William Henry Hyde received formal art education at the National Academy of Design in New York and the Académie Julian in Paris. He opened a portrait studio in New York in 1892 and was elected to the Society of American Artists the following year. Hyde became an illustrator for Harper's and Scribner's magazines and regularly exhibited his work at the National Academy, until the 1930's when his ill health limited his artistic output.
