Carqueville grew up in Chicago and studied lithography at his family's company (Shober & Carqueville). His entire poster output appears to consist of the work he did for Lippincott's, for whom he designed thirteen posters, and for the magazine International. He studied art in Paris in 1896, and upon his return settled in Chicago, where he continued to work as an illustrator. DFP-I 202, Reims 1206, Lauder 52, Margolin p. 81, The Met 1984.1202.30.
