Founded in 1969 by William R. Schademan, the Cockettes were a popular and successful San Francisco-based performance troupe. Their overall ecclectic vision augmented by elaborate costumes, music, imagination combined with hippie psychedelia had catapulted them to local stardom and they were considered the darlings of the Bay City counterculture. Their fame led to a New York tour in 1971.
Most of the Cockette posters (1970 - 1972) were created by Todd Trexler, but a few were by Steven Arnold, John Flowers and John Rothermel.
