WILLIAM WILMARTH (DATES UNKNOWN) UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD / STREAMLINERS. 1949.
38 1/4x25 inches.
Condition A-. Paper.
Providing visualization to the idea that riding on a Union Pacific Streamliner is "like a smooth, cool breeze . . .," the artist depicts a smart, sharply-dressed young woman holding onto her hat as a gust of wind (perhaps from the speeding train itself) blows around her. From a delightful series of images that were also used as magazine advertisements (appearing in The Saturday Evening Post and elsewhere) to promote the streamlined trains in the UP fleet.
