WILLIAMS, C. S.; and [MELISH, J. G.] A New General Atlas. Engraved title, 40 hand-colored engraved maps. 4to, 295x240 mm, modern calf; maps quite bright and clean. New Haven: C. S. Williams, 1832

Additional Details

Contains 5 maps drawn by J. G. Melish, the son of John Melish. Ristow is unaware of these maps and claims that after his father's death the son of Melish worked only on revising one of his father's small U. S. maps. These 5 maps here and the one mentioned by Ristow (page 190) may represent the only cartographic product extant by the son of John Melish. The maps by John Melish in this atlas are: United States; Eastern States; New-York, New Jersey, & Pennsylvania; Virginia, Maryland & Delaware; and Illinois & Missouri. Rumsey 1211.
