This lithograph of a show sign is a large-scale creation from this award-winning New Orleans-born contemporary sculptor, painter and muralist. Willie Birch works are typically celebrations of popular forms of African-American culture. In 1996 he was commissioned to create murals for the Phildelphia International Airport and the 135th Street subway station of the MTA, New York. His works are found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, the Civil Rights Museum, Memphis, TN, and the Atlanta Life Insurance Company, Atlanta.
