Willy Kohl was a stage designer whose work bore expressionist elements. A member of the Rheinische Moderne movement, he also helped to found a puppet theater in Aachen in the early 1920s. While working in this geographic area he received this commission from a local spa. In a minimal, cubist-geometric style he depicts what could either be two figures walking, or one man and his shadow. The archetypal Art Deco image is simple but filled with energy. The text, with information about the resort is strictly organized at the bottom.
