The thermal baths in the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, are still a Swiss destination today. The healing thermal spring water was discovered in the Tamina Gorge in 1240. The spa in Ragaz was known for its elegant cafe, which spilled out onto the terrace and steps of its colonnaded building situated within the spa gardens.
