"This U.S. Post Office poster . . . does not mention Pan American Airways by name, but the China Clipper type Martin M-130 flying boat with PAA insignia is clearly shown, along with a DC-2 and a Lockheed twin-engined type. PAA's Pacific and Latin American routes are clearly marked on the map, based on the one used by Pan American in all its timetables. The Transatlantic route was not yet in operation [it began in 1939]" (Airlines p. 30). This same image was used on the cover of a January 1938, Pan Am airmail brochure.
