With a letter of authentication from the artist, July 18, 2007, noting that, "The pastel in question. . .was made directly from nature. . .at a moment when I thought that painting modern versions of genre scenes would be a worthwhile subject." The artist also states that this work is "one of the top pieces" from this period.
