"Receiv[e]d from Beaujeus magazine at Grave, four days Forrage [sic] for the Horses of two Bread Waggons, yt. are with the Majors of the Brigade of the Foot. 32 Rations of Hay & Oats."
At the age of 21, the future victor at Montreal was already Major of Brigade of a German detachment in the southern Netherlands, initially encamped at Osterhout, just north of Breda. During that period Wolfe was given control of the commissariat.
