Basis for the 1948 film noir classic, Force of Evil, directed by the soon to be black-listed Abraham Polonsky and starring John Garfield whose career was effectively ended when he too refused to "name names" and died young soon after. "Lifts the urban thriller to a magnificent allegory of corrupt ambition" (Thomson, The New Biographical Dictionary of Film, 2004, p. 707). No copies recorded by either ABPC or AE. Scarce.
