Additional Details

The Usonian House was the first building by Frank Lloyd Wright erected in New York City. The 1700 square foot exhibition house exposed New Yorkers to Wright's simple open plan, a home built in proportion to the human scale using his philosophy of organic architecture. The accompanying pavillion housed drawings, models, and photographs as part of the 60-year retrospective of his work. It was situated on the projected site of the Guggenheim Museum. One of the plans contains an unsigned 14-line note possibly in Wright's hand to a fellow architect. It mostly discusses materials that might be borrowed or donated to the project. Should be seen.
