Additional Details

Second French edition of the first atlas of America. Initially appearing in 1597, Wytfliet's book marked the emergence of a separately published atlas containing maps solely devoted to the American continents. The present edition is expanded to include Giovanni Magini's description of the Far East, along with miniature maps of Japan, India, China and the Philippines together on one double-page sheet. Phillips, Atlases 1143.
