"Week in the Barrel" file. A file folder containing notes and reference material for public relations (PR) speeches by Duke.
There are 5 pages (approximately 8x11 inches) and nine index cards (3x5 inches) of manuscript notes. Most of the index cards were actually used during speeches. Includes reference material of 8 official NASA and other internal released speeches from high level managers such as George Low covering various space exploration issues. Vp, vd
One manuscript page includes the comment: "The moon turned out to be spectacular in its beauty. I felt right at home at Descartes." Each of the five sheets of full page manuscript notes by Duke have been inscribed and signed: "Handwritten notes for a speech, Charlie Duke, Apollo 16."
Astronauts were usually assigned one full week to do PR appearances which they commonly referred to as the "Week in the Barrel."
