SLAVE SALE BROADSIDE WITH A WOOD-ENGRAVED VIGNETTE Will be Sold, Before the door of the Eagle . . . a Number of Valuable Slaves . . . Letterpress broadside, 141/2x111/2 inches, with a wood-engraved vignette of slaves in a tobacco field (11/2x53/4 inches); evenly toned, some scattered foxing, early archival repair in lower left corner replacing lost paper (with no text lost), few nicks at edges; with an early manuscript note on the provenance of the piece in the lower right corner ("Found near the Painunkey(?) River in the House of a Dr Brockenbro, Wrote to Lynch was it received? H.") An additional manuscript note on the verso reads, "H. D. Hurst from brother Nov. 5th, 1909."
