First edition, quarto, two parts in one volume, preceding an octavo edition of the same year; illustrated with eight engraved plates of brain anatomy (folding and full-page); imprimatur leaf bound opposite title, longitudinal half-title bound before the divisional title for part one; bound in full contemporary speckled English calf, rebacked, corners mended, endleaves renewed; rebacking rubbed, joints cracking, instances of very faint blue vertical bands on some leaves, perhaps offsetting from bookmarks that are no longer in place; 7 3/4 x 5 3/4 in.
