Woman's Suffrage, New York.
Vote for Votes for Women. New York, November 2, 1915

New York: Allied Printing, 1915.

Small trade card emblazoned with three vertical stripes: violet, white & green, the colors of the movement, with text printed in white on the colored stripes and black on the center white stripe; with notice of the Women's Political Union offices at 25 West 45th Street in New York; crisp and nicely preserved with good color; 6 x 3⅜ in.

On 23 October 1915, tens of thousands of protesters dressed all in white to march in support of women's right to vote in New York. The Women's Political Union Suffrage Shop had a tram from which it dispensed broadsides, pamphlets, buttons, ribbons and cards like the present lot. Ultimately, the 1915 New York campaign was unsuccessful. Women gained the right to vote in the state in 1917.
