YVES KLEIN
Monochrome und Feuer (Triptych).

Complete set of 3 color plates in blue, pink and gold on card (2 screenprinted and one coated with gold foil, with gold leaf applied by the artist), 1961. Each 320x230 mm; 12 3/4x9 inches, full margins (printed to the sheet edges). Published by the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum, Krefeld, on the occasion of the same-titled exhibition at the Museum Haus Lange, Krefeld, January 14-February 26, 1961. Very good and well-preserved impressions with vibrant colors.

Monochrome und Feuer was the only retrospective held for Klein during his lifetime, and the largest ever organized for the artist to date. It featured architecture drawings, an "immaterial" space, his Mur de Feu, as well as examples of his iconic blue, pink and gold monochromes. Primarily working with the signature blue pigment throughout his career, Klein added these other two colors to his oeuvre around the time of the exhibition, held just a year prior to his death. The gold that Klein used in these later works was a product of his performance piece Zone de Sensibilité Picturale Immatérielle, 1959-62.

The Yves Klein Archives, Paris, has confirmed the authenticity of these works. Fleck/Raymond 171.
