Born in Seattle, Washington, Yvonne Cole Meo received her BA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her MA from California State University. She studied alongside Dr. Glenn Lukens, Francis de Erdeley, Herbert Jepson and others. Meo was included in the important 1970 exhibition The Sapphire Show of African-American women artists at Suzanne Jackson's Gallery 32, and was part of the 1977 art critic and historian collective, Witness, Inc. Meo exhibited in numerous group shows including the Ankrum Gallery, Los Angeles, the Oakland Art Museum, Fisk University, Nashville, the United Design Associates, Beverly Hills and in Leipzig, Germany.
