Yuskavage, Lisa (b. 1962)
Stupid Flowers.

1999.

Color monotype with aquatint; 455 x 557 mm; 18 x 22 in.

Yuskavage was born in Philadelphia and received her BFA from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, and her MFA from the Yale School of Art. Her work challenges the conventions and limitations of genre and painting, blending representational elements with the abstract. She embraces dichotomy in her art, which comes across as both voyeuristic and welcoming. Yuskavage is the subject of several international solo exhibitions, including an upcoming show at the Morgan scheduled for the summer of 2025. Museum include the Art Institute of Chicago; the Metropolitan; MoMA; and the Whitney.
