first edition, second printing, (March 1925). Suppressed upon its completion in 1921 by the Soviet censors, the manuscript then found its way to the US and published by Dutton in translation. A Russian edition did not appear until 1988. Scarce surviving example with no copies traced at auction on ABPC or AE.
