      40 x 52 inches. Chromolithographe, France.
Condition B: expert extensive overpainting and restoration in margins and image.
This poster, printed in Toulouse and designed by an unknown artist, is one of the most unusual of the period. The product being advertised is a medicine derived from snails, and the medical allegory it depicts skewrs from kitsch into surrealism. The image depicts a nude woman driving an antique chariot pulled by two giant snails into the sunset, crushing death beneath its wheels. It is a grand and magnificent (and unique) way to market an unusual medicine.
