Browne. 20 parts in 19. 8vo, original wrappers, unrestored apart from part 1 front joint and bottom of part 8 backstrip, soiling on front wrapper of part 1, 19th-century bookseller's small ticket ("Bolton, Bookseller, Tenterden") in upper inner corner on front wrapper of 15 parts; contents generally clean, with almost no foxing on the plates; blue morocco pull-off case with blue linen sleeve. London, October 1846-April 1848

      first edition, in the original parts. First state of pages 324 (with "Capatin" on last line) and 426 (with blank space instead of "if" at beginning of line 9); second state of page 431, with correct pagination. With the Dombey and Son Advertiser in each part and all but 7 of the other inserted ads called for by Hatton & Cleaver, lacking last ad in back of parts 3 and 6, all ads in back of parts 10-12, and errata slip in part 5.
