(AMERICAN REVOLUTION--PRINTS.) Will, J.M. engraver; after Notté. Iohn Paul Iones, Commodore au Service des Etats-Unis de l'Amérique. Mezzotint, 14 1/4 x 9 3/4 inches, minor creasing, trimmed close to plate mark with apparent loss of imprint line. [Augsburg, circa 1780?]

      Estimate $2,500 - 3,500

This attractive mezzotint was done by J.M. Will of Augsburg after a French engraving by Carl Guttenberg. Though the Guttenberg engraving appears regularly, this version appears to be unrecorded. This example has no imprint line, so it's difficult to know for sure. See Cresswell 133 for the source print.
