a rare example of one of the signs carried by memphis's sanitation workers following the assassination of martin luther king jr. Previously, strikers, including King who had come to Memphis to add his support, wore placards that read "I AM A MAN, and UNION JUSTICE NOW. All are very scarce today, most having been swept up after the strike and destroyed.
