      "We don't have a song, yet." Watercolor and ink on paper. 279x356 mm; 11x14 inches. Signed in image, lower right, captioned in pen, lower margin. Cartoon published in the March 19, 1979 issue. Stapled to thicker paper at corners. Protective sheet with New Yorker label and pencil notations for publication date.

      Barney Tobey (1906-1989) was a prominent cartoonist and illustrator for more thasn 50 years. He was also a book and dust jacket designer, but is best know for his work at the New Yorker, which published more than 1200 of his cartoons and five covers.
