      TOM TORO.
      Shoelace: The Movie. Cartoon for The New Yorker, published February 8, 2016, with inventory sticker on verso. Ink and wash on paper, heightened in white. 229x305 mm; 9x12 inches. Signed "Toro" in correction fluid in lower right. Accompanied by three pages of preliminary sketches and gag notes.

      Toro (1982 - ) is a Kansas City-based cartoonist who published his first cartoon in The New Yorker in 2010 and quickly became a favorite contributor. To date, he has published over 150 cartoons for the magazine. In 2016, two of Toro's cartoons were featured in a juried exhibition at the Society of Illustrators' annual Comic and Cartoon Exhibit.
