      36 1/4x20 1/4 inches, 92x62 1/4 cm. J. Olsens, Stockholm.
Condition B: entirely-overpainted margins; repaired tears, small replaced losses, creases and overpainting in margins and along vertical and horizontal folds.
Josephine Baker's silent film "La Sirene des Tropiques" had its world premiere in Stockholm in December, 1927. To promote the film the distributors chose an image of the performer which had appeared in the program for the Folies Bergere earlier in the year. It was an image after a photograph, of Josephine in her "pearl and feather" costume (designed for her by Max Weldy after designs by Georges Barbier) taken by Luicien Walery. The color image appeared inside the 1927 Folies Bergere program for the show, as well as on the cover of a second souvenir program. However, for this poster, an unknown designer covered the performer's nipples and added a few more straps of pearls. In the original image Josephine was bare-breasted. rare
