      From the Collection of Henry Halliday, the English illustrator; to Sotheby's London, 1983; to a Private Collector.

      Alexandra "Xie" Kitchen (1864-1925), the daughter of Rev. George Kitchin, Carroll's colleague at Christ Church, Oxford, was one of Carroll's favorite models. He photographed his "child friend" consistently from the ages of 4 through 16, in in both formal and informal compositions.
