first separate printing of the first of Röntgen's 3 papers announcing his discovery of x-rays, for which he received the first Nobel Prize in physics in 1901. The paper also appeared in the Sitzungs-Berichte der Physikalisch-medicinischen Gesellschaft zu Würzburg, but gained more rapid and extensive exposure in offprint form.
