      Bridge/Branching.

      Cast bronze, with a gold patina, 1986. Approximately 419x406x178 mm; 16 1/2x16x7 inches. Incised signature and date, lower edge of the triangular element.

      Provenance: Dorsky Gallery, New York; private collection, Illinois.

      Exhibited: Traditions and Transformations: Contemporary Afro-American Sculpture, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York, February 21 - May 27, 1989.

      This type of horizontal, bridging form is a recurring theme in Richard Hunt's work in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It follows such monumental works as A Bridge Across and Beyond, 1978, in bronze at Howard University, and Bridging and Branching, 1981, a public commission in the Chicago Park District.
