The Works. 37 volumes complete. 4to, full turquoise morocco, hand tooled wavy gilt surrounding a red inlaid flower design in gilt-ruled borders, occasional rubbing, a few bindings chipped, some rebacked retaining original backstrips, top edges gilt, others uncut, spines gilt in compartments; morocco doublures of red panels in turquoise border with gilt tooling of three roses inlaid, pink Chinese brocade endpapers with flower design, a few hinges starting. London, 1900-03

      copy number one of 300 sets. With the notice on the verso of the limitation that this copy is extra-illustrated with original watercolor frontispieces, Grolier plates, Boydell plates, handcolored Pillé plates, and original drawings of Shakespearian characters in watercolor. Perhaps the most notable accomplishment from Charles Ricketts's press, who famously disposed of the personally designed founts into the Thames after deciding to cease operations.
