NABOKOV, VLADIMIR. Lolita. 2 volumes. Small 8vo, publisher's green, white, and black printed wrappers, spines leaning, clean and bright with no soiling or staining; [publisher's?] photographically reproduced dust jacket with printed spines and back panels ("Printemps * Paris * Primavera" lettering repeated), edgewear, one with portion of spine lost; staining to fore-edge of vol. 1 affecting a few pages, else internally free from any markings. Paris: The Olympia Press, (1955)

      Estimate $4,500 - 6,000

first edition, first issue, with unobscured printed price of 900 Francs on each volume. While the references make no mention of a dust jacket being issued, it isn't hard to imagine the publisher producing these as a way to slip Lolita past the censors, due to the book's already notorious reputation. An excellent example. Kearney 16; Juliar A28.1.1.
