      RICHARD STONE.
      "The Brave Little Steam Shovel." Archive of over 20 original illustrations for the book of the same name by Alf Evers (New York: Wonder Books, 1951). Gouache on board. Sizes vary, the largest measures 216x330 mm; 8 1/2x13 inches. The smallest measures 76x76 mm; 3x3 inches. Unsigned, but with artist's notes in lower margins. Accompanied by a copy of the book.

      Stone (1925 - ) "studied both at the New York Art Students League and at Yale University, where he earned a B.F.A. His paintings are assured and subtle, carefully simplified, always in good taste.
