Well-illustrated eighteenth century manuscript ciphering book. 58 leaves of neat ink manuscript with many watercolor diagrams and stylized folkish drawings on "Pro Patria" watermarked paper, 23 blank leaves. 8vo, 8x6 1/4 inches, worn period reversed sheep, front cover detached; minor bleed-through of oxidized ink; bookplate of William G. Nightingale. [Cambridge, MA, 1783-1784]

      Inscription from the front endpaper: "William Greene's manuscript began April ye 12, 1783 and compleated or finished June ye 18 AD 1784 at Harvard College in Cambridge, New England. Began April 12 1783 in my junior year and finished June 18 1784 in my senior year. Sign'd Seal'd and deliver'd in presence of &c &c."
