(ADVERTISING DESIGN.) Group of over 50 designs by Robert Michel for The Kahl Company. Archive of pieces from an advertising campaign that includes envelopes, order forms, brochures, labels, advertisements, postcards, stationery, and bags for products (vegetable seeds and bird food), and a postcard containing a reproduction of one of Michel's designs, addressed to Walter Gropius, as director of the Bauhaus in Dessau. Various sizes, some printed in colors, condition very good overall. (IO). Frankfurt-am-Main, mostly 1927-30

a nice archive of bauhaus and neue typographie designs by the german architect and commercial artist. Michel and his wife, Ella Bergman Michel, were associated with the Bauhaus. He worked in Frankfurt for many years designing glass houses and filling stations. As a commercial artist, he was a member of Ring Neuer Werbegestalter and participated in Société Anonyme exhibitions in the United States, as well as the Internationale Kunst der Werbung organized by Max Burchartz. His work is represented in the Yale University Art Gallery and at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, gifted by architect Philip Johnson from the Jan Tschichold Collection.
