A vast industrial archive with approximately 562 individually mounted photographs of interesting machinery featuring components made by the Renold and Coventry Chain Company.
Including a wide range of equipment primarily installed throughout England and Australia, from an Austin Motorcars production line conveyor and a mechanical tote conveyor for unloading bananas at East India Dock, to a continuous rotating table for biscuit packing, and a hand-powered rhubarb cutter. Each of the ingenious inventions possess chainlinks, drive chains, and other conveyor components manufactured by the company, and some are depicted with male and females workers operating them. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 4x6 inches (10.2x15.2 cm.), some slightly smaller, the printed record mounts 5x8 inches (12.7x20.3 cm.), with typed company information, dates, and various specifications, on mount recto, and many with lengthier typed captions, and an Austral Elevator Co. hand stamp on mount verso. 1920s-40s
