The importance of nature is illustrated by the image on the front cover of the album, a beautiful gilted image of three geishas in rickshaws set into a red lacquer surround of a flowering tree branches. Hand-colored albumen prints, the image measuring 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), and the reverse, mounted recto/verso, many with an inventory number and caption, in English, in the negative; the mounts each with an elaborate hand-applied and colored motif, including of male and female figures set against lush landscapes or soaring birds in flight.
