Additional Details

Third European edition, and the first printed anywhere with numbered paragraphs. This is the rare second state, with "Moroni" following the long text on the title page, no colophon on verso of page 563 and other corrections. While 5,000 copies were printed of the first state, only 25 were printed of this corrected state, of which Crawley has traced only 4 surviving copies. The corrections were carried over to the later stereotyped editions issued from 1854 through 1877. "The 1852 Book of Mormon is a significant edition in that its stereotype plates were used for all of the Church's subsequent impressions before 1879"--Crawley 688. Flake 601; Sabin 83044; see also Larry Draper, "Book of Mormon Editions," in Uncovering the Original Text of the Book of Mormon, pages 39-44.
