Additional Details

Second edition of this book of biblical quotations for each day of the year. Each passage is followed by a quote by a modern author, usually linking it directly to the abolition movement. The frontispiece is an important variation on Josiah Wedgwood's iconic "Am I not a man and a brother" image from 1787. It was produced by Patrick Henry Reason (1816-1892) of New York, an early African-American engraver. The image went on to be used frequently by the American Anti-Slavery Society, often with the addition of the caption "Am I Not a Woman and a Sister."
